Facial Rejuvenation and Aesthetics

Wrinkles and other facial lines are a result of the ageing process, muscle activity and individual genetic pre-disposition. They can also be the result of emotional and hormonal influences, lifestyle choices such as alcohol and tobacco consumption, or excessive sun exposure. Although we may be able to influence or control some of these factors, formations of wrinkles are an inevitable result of the ageing process.

At Poundbury Dental Practice we are able to offer treatments that can reduce or even eliminate wrinkles and lines, leading to a more youthful and relaxed appearance. These treatments, subject to a consultation, take place within our clinical environment and are only administered by trained and qualified professionals. Two treatments are offered, the injection of Dermal Fillers and the use of Botulinum toxin mini-injections - both of which are designed to reduce or eliminate fine lines and wrinkles.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers are designed to ‘fill out’ and smooth away nose to mouth grooves, forehead lines, frown furrows, crows feet and chin and neck lines. They can also be used for lip enhancement. Treatment usually lasts 6-12 months, dependent upon each individual. Prior to treatment, an anaesthetic cream is applied to the area to be treated and then the product is injected into the skin beneath the wrinkle. The effect is immediate.  

Botulinum toxin mini-injections (BTX)

This is a widely used treatment for reducing crow’s feet lines, forehead lines and frown lines. A series of mini-injections are carefully and precisely administered to prevent certain facial muscles from contracting. As the treatment may take up to 2 weeks to fully take effect, patients will return to the practice for a review of the treatment. This treatment, which normally lasts for 3-6 months, is the most commonly performed non-surgical cosmetic procedure for facial rejuvenation in the world ( www.surgery.org  and www.cosmeticsurgery.org ).

The successful delivery of these treatments requires a high level of skill, dexterity and finesse - balancing the need to reduce or eliminate wrinkles, with the need to leave the patient with an acceptable degree of facial expression. We are able to achieve this balance. Long experience has proven Botulinum toxin to be safe. To date, no systemic complications associated with these injections have been documented.

At your initial consultation, options can be discussed together with any concerns you may have and relevant paperwork completed. The fee for the consultation is £50, paid in advance, but is redeemable with the first treatment.
